Get a Clean Start with a Cleanse

Cleansing with CleanStart
by Dr. William Keller

The practice of cleansing the digestive system dates back to 1930s. Today, it is widely accepted that proper digestion is crucial for health. When digestion is efficient and complete, all of the food you eat is broken down and either utilized or flushed out as waste. When the digestive process is inefficient, partially digested food matter may be left behind in the digestive system. It is theorized that this buildup may produce toxins that can contribute to fatigue and a host of other undesirable symptoms. Sluggish digestion or debris in the bowel may also reduce the efficiency with which the body is able to eliminate toxins and waste products.

CleanStart is a comprehensive approach to cleansing the whole body. It contains laxative herbs to facilitate the cleansing of the intestinal tract. Soothing herbs blended into the formula help support gentle cleansing. Herbs that help rekindle the ability of the digestive system to properly handle digestion, absorption and waste elimination are also part of this product. Because the digestive system is not alone in the waste-elimination process, herbs for detoxifying the accessory organs (liver, gallbladder, pancreas) and the urinary system are incorporated into this formula. Blood purification is also an important aspect of body cleansing; hence, reputable blood-purifying herbs are also components of the CleanStart program. The laxative herbs in this formula help remove toxic debris that build up in the colon.

Psyllium and fenugreek seeds are high in fiber and have a bulk laxative action, which helps support optimal gastrointestinal transit.1

Cascara sagrada, yellow dock, buckthorn and Turkey rhubarb are high in anthraquinones. These substances act on the large intestines, stimulating colon peristalsis to promote elimination. 2,3

Marshmallow, licorice, aloe and ginger soothe the digestive system while cleansing. Marshmallow root contains mucilaginous polysaccharides that help protect and soothe tissues. Licorice and ginger are reported to have antispasmodic and gastroprotective effects. 4-6

Sarsaparilla, red clover, echinacea, burdock, Oregon grape, couch grass, milk thistle and dandelion are purifying herbs in this pack. They are recommended for periodic “spring cleaning” of the body. Their mild diuretic effects are beneficial in promoting the elimination of toxins via the urinary system. In addition, sarsaparilla, through its sweat-promoting properties, enhances toxin elimination from the lymph and circulatory systems.7

Bentonite and sodium copper chlorophyllin are detoxifying ingredients. Bentonite adsorbs toxins, facilitating their removal from the bowel. Sodium copper chlorophyllin is a green pigment found in almost all plants. It has been used to aid in the removal of various toxins via the liver and remains a key compound for improving the function of essential detoxification pathways.8

Pepsin, capsicum, potassium citrate and lactobacillus help restore improved function of the digestive system. Anytime a deficiency of proteolytic enzymes exists, bits of undigested protein may remain in the body, causing difficulties. Pepsin supports efficient protein digestion and protects the intestines from foreign invaders. Capsicum is used to improve digestion and relieve occasional gastrointestinal problems. Potassium citrate plays a role in gastric secretion and enzyme reactions, helping to support digestion. Lactobacillus spores were thoughtfully blended into this cleanse to help re-establish the balance of these beneficial organisms.

CleanStart is a thorough, yet gentle cleanse that is perfect for just about anyone. The ingredients in CleanStart are incorporated into a capsule packet and a powder drink mix packet (available in Apple-Cinnamon and Wild Berry flavors) that make cleansing easy and convenient.

Digestive Health

Food Enzymes (120 caps)Created by Dr. William J. Keller

Properly balanced diet
The digestive process and maintaining good health depends on a properly balanced diet. The digestive system essentially converts the foods that we eat into the energy needed to support life. The anatomy of the digestive system process involves a complex series of organs and glands that work in concert to break down our consumed foods into smaller molecules that can be utilized by the body.

The digestive process
The digestive process begins in the mouth where food is partially broken down by the process of chewing and by the enzymatic action of the carbohydrate-digesting amylase enzymes present in the saliva. Food is then swallowed and makes its way down the esophagus to the stomach.

In the stomach, food is mixed, ground and digested by gastric acid and a protein-digesting enzyme called pepsin. Gastric acid is an important part of the digestive process, consists mainly of hydrochloric acid (HCl), and it very efficiently breaks down food material, particularly protein. If production of gastric acid decreases (as is often the case with advancing age), the digestive process is less efficient. Researchers in the U.S. found that over 30 percent of men and women past the age of 60 suffer from atrophic gastritis, a condition marked by little or no gastric acid secretion (1).

Fortunately, natural approaches and nutritional supplements can help support an optimal digestive process in the stomach. (Digestive System Products)

The partially digested food leaves the stomach and continues through the digestive process by entering the small intestine, a tubular structure composed of three segments: the duodenum, jejunum and ileum. The duodenum continues the digestive process of breaking down food with the aid of bile from the gallbladder and enzymes released by the pancreas and the duodenal walls. Bile causes a breakdown of fat from large to smaller globules. Further digestion of fats, protein and carbohydrates takes place with the help of the pancreatic enzymes lipase, trypsin and amylase, respectively. Nutritional supplements can help support small intestinal digestive action.

The digestive process is basically complete once food passes through the duodenum. Absorption of nutrients into the bloodstream takes place in the jejunum and ileum segments of the small intestine. After absorption of food molecules into the bloodstream, the blood is purified by the liver to remove harmful substances. The liver also stores fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) and excess glucose for future use. Digestive supplements can be used to support these valuable liver functions.

The importance of fiber and friendly bacteria
The large intestine receives mostly indigestible material and water from the small intestine. Excess water and any residual minerals are absorbed in the large intestine. Fiber aids the process of moving the remaining debris through the large intestine, thus easing the passage of waste known as a stool. In addition to promoting elimination, fiber also helps to support friendly bacteria. About 100 trillion bacteria contribute to the digestive system process. These bacteria in the large intestine perform several essential functions.

Probiotics, as these bacteria are called, promote an efficient digestive process, support the immune system, inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, and produce several vitamins. Many supplement products consist of soluble and/or insoluble fiber from a variety of plant sources. Additionally, many different bacterial species found in nutritional supplements are capable of functioning as probiotics.

Probiotics
Probiotics have long been known to provide many benefits to the digestive system process and overall human health as mentioned in the previous paragraph. I have read with great interest several recent research reports on some additional actions that are very different from what you would expect.

One example is an experiment where mice, fed broth containing Lactobacillus rhamnosus, behaved less anxiously than mice fed broth without bacteria. These behavioral changes were partially explained by differences in brain chemical receptors and stress hormone (corticosterone) levels.

The overall observation was that a change in the mix of intestinal bacteria provided by L. rhamnosus influenced mouse behavior by way of the vagus nerve. The vagal impulses induced by the microbes resulted in an increase in GABA (gamma amino butyric acid, which is a neurotransmitter or brain chemical) receptors in the brain and lower levels of stress hormone. The net result was a significant decrease in anxiety observed in the mice receiving the bacteria-containing broth (2).

Just a few years ago, most scientists were of the opinion that probiotics only acted locally in the gut. However, this study suggests that gut bacteria could play a role in various brain and psychiatric disorders as well as individual behavioral differences.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Another fairly intense research area involves how intestinal microbes contribute to or counteract chronic inflammation and affect the digestive system process. As we all know, chronic inflammation is associated with many disease states. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is one of these conditions that appears to be directly influenced by specific probiotic species. It was interesting to read that those probiotic strains that specifically keep IBD in remission do not function normally in the presence of an iron-rich environment (3).

Species of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium were found to be inhibited by high iron levels and this resulted in a failure to reduce inflammation. These research data suggest plausible explanations as to why IBD becomes established. As this probiotic research continues, valuable therapies will eventually emerge. Of equal importance here is that we will have a greater understanding of the digestive system process and health.

Mind Max

Mind-Max contains magnesium l-threonate plus gotu kola aerial parts, bacopa leaf and ginkgo leaf—herbs well-known to benefit circulation and brain health—for a powerful brain boost.

Between the ages of 20 and 90, the average person loses 5–10% of his/her brain weight, with an accompanying loss in memory, attention and other cognitive functions.

Research shows that a decreased number of nerve synapses (the connections between nerve cells) may be responsible for this cognitive decline. Magnesium plays an essential role in nerve synapses. However, magnesium shortages have become common with the increase in processed foods and the lack of magnesium-rich whole foods in the diet.

Moreover, most forms of magnesium are not well-absorbed by nervous tissue. Researchers at MIT have discovered that magnesium l-threonate, a highly absorbable form of magnesium, can easily cross the blood–brain barrier and that it increases the brain’s magnesium level.

Supports brain function, memory and concentration.

Garlic - Natural Immune Booster

 Garlic (100 caps)

Garlic—A Natural Way to Boost Your Immune System

Garlic has been present in many cultures for thousands of years in more ways than just as a flavoring for a tasty pasta dish. Roman soldiers used to gobble down cloves of garlic before battle in hopes that its power would give them the heroic strength to conquer. Damsels in distress used to arm themselves with garlic to keep vampires away. We know that the Egyptians used garlic as a means of commerce with fifteen bulbs matching the price of a slave.

Aside from these more frivolous uses of garlic, there is one ancient use that still holds true today—garlic’s ability to strengthen the immune system. Sanskrit records show that garlic was used for medicinal purposes as far back as 3000 BCE. Hippocrates, an ancient Greek physician, recommended garlic as a remedy for infections, digestive disorders and even cancer.

Until Alexander Fleming’s discovery of penicillin in 1928, garlic was a treatment for many illnesses. But Flemmings discovery brought on what some may call the antibiotic binge of the 20th century medical field, quickly pushing garlic to the ranks of the “poor man’s” medicine. However, as the public looks for more natural ways to boost the immune system, garlic is creeping back into the forefront of immune system strengtheners.

This member of the onion family contains three particular organosulfur compounds that act as antioxidants, reduce the risk of heart disease and prevent blood clots. Clinical studies show that they even strengthen our immune system’s cancer-fighting abilities.

From fighting off the common cold to reducing the risk of heart disease and cancer, you can’t go wrong with garlic. As garlic is known as the “stinky rose,” most are aware of the detrimental effects garlic breath can have on our social life. So you’ll be happy to hear that there are many ways to receive all of the health benefits garlic has to offer in more subtle ways—garlic supplements. Give your immune system the help it needs with an added boost of garlic strength.

Check out our list of quality garlic supplements at wholesale prices:

Structural System Support

logo-nsp-natures-sunshine-independent-distributor
Bone Up on Structural System Support
by Jody Taylor
When the cold days of winter arrive, many people find themselves acutely aware of their joints and muscles. Because the chilly weather brings these body parts to mind, we’re reminding you of the Nature’s Sunshine products designed to help. These products support the structural system—keeping the body’s bones, joints and muscles strong and healthy, and optimizing full function of them.
As women age, proper bone support and maintenance become a priority. Working in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise, Skeletal Strength helps women maintain good bone health, which may lessen the risk of osteoporosis later in life. Each daily serving of 4 tablets provides 600 mg calcium, 600 mg magnesium, plus key vitamins and trace minerals in a blend of six synergistic herbs.
EverFlex combines all of the most promising joint health supplements into one tablet—hyaluronic acid, glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and devil’s claw herb—to protect and lubricate joints and help increase shock absorption. EverFlex Pain Cream enhances flexibility and joint mobility through pain reduction. This penetrating, fast-acting cream features MSM and the cooling relief of menthol to help with minor joint discomfort.
The botanical ingredients in HSN-W nourish hair, skin and nails with nutrients that support the entire structural system—including bones, joints and muscles. HSN-W contains dulse and horsetail, which contain high natural concentrations of the trace mineral silicon, plus sage and rosemary for antioxidant protection.
Collatrim delivers proteins and important amino acids to the body, which it may utilize to rebuild muscles and strengthen lean muscle mass. The key ingredient in Collatrim is collagen, an important nutrient for healthy skin and strong joints. Available in capsules or powder, Collatrim provides the amino acids your body needs to build muscle tissue and help keep joints healthy.
IF Relief combines herbal extracts that may support the body’s natural process for relieving minor muscle pain due to overuse. While it can be especially effective following strenuous exercise or physical activity, it’s also a great choice for people seeking simply to maintain ongoing joint and tissue health.
The juice of the Morinda citrifolia fruit is rich in phytonutrients and antioxidants. Phytonutrients nourish the body’s cells, organs and tissues. They, along with antioxidants, fight oxidative stress caused by pollution, strenuous physical activity and other free-radical-generating factors. By fighting free radical damage to the body’s cells, the nutrients in Nature’s Noni provide essential support to the structural system.
Keep bones healthy and strong by providing them with 800 mg calcium and 400 mg magnesium—plus beneficial amounts of vitamin D, phosphorus, zinc, copper and boron—in each serving of SynerPro Calcium–Magnesium. This is a great daily supplement for ensuring you always get the nutrients you need, even when your diet falls short.
Vitamin D is an essential vitamin that supports both bone health and the immune system. Normally, the body synthesizes vitamin D from sunlight, but recent studies indicate that we may not be getting enough from sunlight alone. Nature’s Sunshine recently introduced a new supplement that provides 2,000 IU of vitamin D3, which is the amount many studies recommend for maintenance. This essential vitamin is naturally derived from lanolin.
Millions of Americans suffer from chronic muscle soreness, stiffness and fatigue. The body’s energy production process may make muscle discomfort worse. When the body is deficient in energy-producing fuel, it breaks down muscle protein to create energy. Fibralgia contains malic acid and magnesium. Malic acid, found naturally in high concentrations in apples and other fruits and vegetables, plays an important role in cellular energy production. The body uses magnesium to help absorb several vitamins and minerals, promote bone strength and regulate nerve impulses.
Let these time-tested products from Nature’s Sunshine combat occasional stress to the structural system and make this winter season more enjoyable.

Bones and Muscles

Giving The Body Structure and Movement
By Courtney Hammond

The structural system does exactly what its name implies; it provides structure or a framework for the body. It gives the body its form and the ability to move. The structural system is comprised of bones, connective tissue and muscles.

Bones
A newborn baby has about 300 soft bones—some bones are actually cartilage at this stage of development. As the baby grows, the cartilage calcifies as calcium phosphate permeates the bones. Eventually the calcified cartilage is replaced by true bone, and some of the baby’s bones fuse together. An adult has between 206 and 209 bones, depending on the number of ribs and an extra bone in the tailbone.

Bones stop growing in size during the mid-teens for girls and around age 20 for boys, though the growing process lasts as bones constantly rebuild themselves. Bones contain two types of cells—osteoblasts and osteoclasts—which work together to build new bone material on the outside and remove old material on the inside. To sustain this regenerative effort, the body must receive sufficient supplies of vitamin D, calcium and phosphorus. If a shortage of these minerals occurs in the bloodstream, the body will pull them from the bones, which can lead to weak and porous bones.

Connective Tissue

Some of the most important connective tissues in the structural system are those that make up the joints. Joints are designed to permit movement between bones that must meet, but not touch. These engineering marvels bind two or more bones together while cushioning and lubricating them to withstand a lifetime of bending, twisting, swinging and lifting.

The body has many different types of joints. Some allow for a wide range of movement, such as the hinge joints of the elbow and knee, or the ball and socket joints of the hip and shoulder. Other joints allow for more limited movement, such as those found in the spine. Most joints are composed of similar elements. The joint is enclosed in a tough fibrous capsule filled with synovial fluid to lubricate the moving parts of the joint. Ligaments surround the capsule to protect it and provide stability to the joint.

Cartilage is a type of dense connective tissue. It is made up of chondrocytes that produce a matrix of collagen and elastin fibers. Cartilage provides support and structure to body tissues without being as rigid as bone. It also serves to cushion the joints.

Muscles
Bones and joints provide the framework for the body and determine how it can move. Muscles create the movement by converting chemical energy from food into physical energy. There are more than 600 muscles in the body in three basic types: cardiac muscle, smooth muscle and skeletal muscle. Each muscle is made up of countless fibers, and each fiber is composed of minute filaments that vary in length.

Muscles produce movement by contracting. They never push; they pull, which means a pair of muscles is required to make a full range of movement. Muscles grow through use. The effort it takes to use muscles signals the heart to supply them with more blood and nutrients, which in turn stimulates the growth of the size of each muscle fiber.

When Things Go Wrong
Damage to the structural system can affect the way you move and enjoy life. Three of the most common problems occurring in the structural system are osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.

Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and a loss of bone tissue, leading to weak and brittle bones that are prone to breaks. Osteoporosis is especially common among post-menopausal women, but men also develop osteoporosis. While it is usually thought of as a disease for the elderly, research shows that peak bone density is achieved by age 25. It is vital that men and women alike develop strong bones by that age so the bones can remain strong throughout life. While the best defense against osteoporosis is to build strong bones during childhood and adolescence, other steps can help you lower your risk, such as getting adequate amounts of calcium and vitamin D, engaging in regular weight-bearing exercise and choosing a healthy lifestyle free of smoking and excessive alcohol.

Arthritis
Arthritis is a general term for a group of conditions involving damage to the joints of the body. The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis, and this is the leading cause of chronic disability in the United States. Osteoarthritis is caused by an abnormal wearing of cartilage in the joints, a decrease in the synovial fluid surrounding the joints, and chronic low-grade inflammation. Since the bone surfaces in the joint are inadequately protected, osteoarthritis sufferers experience pain with weight-bearing activities, including walking and standing.

Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is characterized by chronic muscle pain. This disorder is not entirely understood and is often referred to as fibromyalgia syndrome because researchers are learning that pain is just one element of fibromyalgia. Associated pain can present itself in a variety of ways, from muscle pain, spasms and weakness, to sleep disturbances. Other sufferers also experience brain fog and depression. The cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, but certain triggers such as stress, physical exertion and lack of deep sleep seem to exacerbate symptoms.

A healthy structural system is built on basic principles of good nutrition, particularly adequate vitamin D and calcium intake, and regular exercise. The structural system gives your body strength and the ability to move. Taking care of it will allow you to engage in your favorite hobbies and activities for a lifetime.

Better Vision with Antioxidants

by Steven Horne, RH(AHG)

Millions of Americans have sung the question, "Oh say, can you see?" Unfortunately, for many millions of senior citizens, the answer to that question is, "No." That's because diseases like cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration rob thousands of people of their vision every year.

The sad thing is that one simple nutritional change could save many people's vision. That change is to get more antioxidant nutrients into the diet. Antioxidants are extremely critical to eye health because the eyes are extremely prone to oxidative stress and free radical damage. In fact, oxidative stress is the underlying cause of cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

In Chinese medicine, a connection was seen between the eyes and the liver. That is to say that TCM practitioners observed that the health of the eyes was connected to the health of the liver. One aspect of this connections is that both the eyes and the liver require high levels of antioxidant nutrients to function properly. So, if antioxidant levels are low, both tissues will be adversely affected.

There are two reasons the eyes need a good supply of antioxidants to stay healthy. The first is simple, sunlight can cause free radical damage. That's why excessive sunbathing can damage the skin. So, because the eyes are designed to take in light and be sensitive to it, they are especially prone to being damaged. Antioxidant nutrients protect the eyes from this damage.

The second reason the eyes need a lot of antioxidants is because they are very active, constantly sending millions of bits of information to the brain. This requires a high metabolism (the process the body uses to create energy) and metabolism also creates free radicals. So, organs with higher metabolic rates, like the eyes and the liver, also need more antioxidants.

Let Your Eyes Guide You to Better Nutrition

So, you might ask, "How do I make this simple change and get more antioxidants into your diet?" The answer is to let your eyes guide you. You see, the bright colors of various fruits and vegetables signal the presence of various antioxidants. So, as you shop for food, you should look for bright colored fruits and vegetables and eat them every day. In other words, you should eat a rainbow of foods whose colors please your eyes as much as their flavors please your taste buds.

For example, lutein and xeaxanthin, are yellowish pigments found in foods like spinach, kale, green beans, corn and egg yolks. They are also antioxidants that protect your eyes from the blue and near-ultraviolet wavelengths of light. Protecting the eyes from these wavelengths of light reduces the risk of macular degeneration.

Carrots are high in beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A. Both vitamin A and beta-carotene are very critical antioxidants for the eyes, meaning there is some truth to the popular belief that carrots are good for your eyes.

There are other carotenoids that protect the eyes, too. For instance, lycopene, a carotenoid that contributes to the red color of tomatoes, helps protect eyes from light and oxygen damage. It also protects the prostate and blood vessels.

The dark purple color of blue berries, huckleberries and bilberries is due to the presence of anthocyanodins. These compounds protect blood vessels in the eyes (and throughout the body) and enhance night vision.

The bottom line is that our eyes can help to guide our nutritional choices, so we obtain the nutrients our eyes need to stay healthy. An ingenious system, don't you think?

Antioxidant Supplements

Antioxidant supplements are the "big thing" right now, but it's important to remember that foods contain extremely complex mixtures of nutrients that isolated supplements will never be able to duplicate. So, it's very important that you "eat" your antioxidants in the form of fresh fruits and vegetables, and not rely strictly on supplements. Besides, colorful food is a lot more fun to ingest than pills.

Still, there are antioxidant supplements that provide an added boost to protecting the eyes. For general antioxidant protection, which will benefit the whole body, not just the eyes, consider supplements like Thai-Go and Super ORAC.

Milk Thistle Combination is a great antioxidant for the liver, which means it will also help the eyes. It contains N-acetyl cysteine, a compound that increases levels of an intracellular antioxidant called glutathione. People with catarcts tend to be deficient in glutathione.

Since carotenoids are so important for the eyes, Carotenoid Blend is another antioxidant that can help to keep you seeing the world clearly. It contains beta-carotene, alpha-carotene, lutein, lycopene, zeaxanthin, cryptoxanthin, phytoene, phytofluence and astaxanthin.

For more specific protection for the eyes consider Perfect Eyes, which contains the carotenoids lutein, xeaxanthin, beta-carotene and lycopene. In addition, it contains the herbs bilberry and turmeric, which have powerful anti-inflammatory properties that protect the eyes, liver, blood vessels and other tissues from damage. Perfect Eyes also contains n-acetyl cysteine, taurine, selenium, zinc, quercitin and hespiridin.

If you'd like to learn more about how the ingredients in Perfect Eyes can help ensure that you'll be able to answer yes to the question "Oh, say can you see" for many years to come, check out our new on-line database on our Tree of Light Publishing website.

EverFlex For Joints

by Shannon Larsen, Health Sciences, Nature's Sunshine Products

EverFlex is a natural dietary supplement for joint support that combines glucosamine, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), chondroitin, devil’s claw and hyaluronic acid for healthy joint function.

Glucosamine plays a key role in the construction of cartilage, the connective tissue that cushions the joints.1 Glucosamine is an amino sugar that stimulates the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans (the major structural component of cartilage).1 Glucosamine helps replenish hyaluronic acid and synovial fluid (joint lubricant).2 Animal and human studies demonstrate that glucosamine is capable of protecting connective tissues.3,4

MSM is a naturally occurring sulfur compound. Sulfur is required for the production of cartilage.5 Although MSM is found in many fresh foods, it is easily destroyed in cooking and processing. Thus, it makes sense to take dietary supplements of MSM to ensure adequate supply in the body.

Chondroitin is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) that is important in maintaining the structural integrity of connective tissue. Glycosaminoglycans such as chondroitin are the building blocks of cartilage and joint fluid (synovial fluid).6 Chondroitin sulfate is produced by chondrocytes and performs the important function of attracting fluid into the cartilage. This gives cartilage its sponge-like form, thereby making it a good shock absorber and draws nutrients to cartilage thereby promoting growth and regeneration.

Evidence suggests that chondroitin sulfate also protects cartilage by inhibiting cartilagedegrading enzymes such as leukocyte elastase.3,7 Studies show that chondroitin may slow the progression of joint degeneration, stabilize the joint space width and modulate bone and joint metabolism.3 Chondroitin may also prevent cartilage breakdown by decreasing the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes to joints.3

Hyaluronic acid (also known as HA or hyaluronan) is a non-sulfated glycosaminoglycan that occurs naturally throughout the body.8 It is found most abundantly in the skin, cartilage, synovial fluid and eyes.3 Hyaluronic acid plays a major role in joint lubrication and in maintaining joint homeostasis2 and is critical for the health of the joints. Hyaluronic acid may also enhance the synthesis of chondroitin,9 and inhibit the release of enzymes that contribute to the breakdown of cartilage.10

Devil’s claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) is named for the tiny hooks that cover its fruit. Devil’s claw root has been used for thousands of years in Africa.11 Devil’s claw root contains phytochemicals, such as iridoid glycosides including harpagoside, that have soothing effects.3 Studies show that taking devil’s claw root significantly improves physical functioning in many people.11

The nutrients in EverFlex work together to enhance cartilage repair and improve joint function.

Complimentary products include EverFlex Pain Cream, which features the cooling relief of menthol plus cetylated fatty acid esters and MSM.
